Ray Scobie is not an inmate on Texas Death Row, but I think he deserves a spot on this site, anyway. Ray began writing me shortly after my arrival here at the Polunsky Unit. He did 16 years in an English prison for murder. 16 years isn't easy time for anyone, but he was very fortunate that he was not born in Texas: He would have been executed for the same crime had it been committed here. He lives a quiet life with his wife Diane now as an artist (a skill he learned as a prisoner in his English jail). He is proof to me, and everyone, that people can change, and death isn't always the answer. Unlike other samples on this site, Ray is legally allowed to sell his artwork, so if you are interested in anything you see here, feel free to write him an email. But whether you do or not, and whether he sells any of his work or not, I have not and will not receive anything of value as a result of his work being displayed on this web site.
